Suffering is a universal experience. The establishment of IAATR reflects the recognition that humans and all other species are vulnerable to psychological and physical suffering. It is also established in recognition of the a trans-species psychology that has emerged from the scientific understanding of psychobiological continuity across species. The IAATR seeks to invite health care workers and animal professionals in a common commitment to the alleviation and prevention of suffering of all species.
